Chief Angler started the way most good tackle shops do — with anglers who couldn’t find what they needed. Good lures were expensive or hard to get, and a lot of what was available wasn’t made for the heavy cover, hard-fighting fish and conditions we face in Indian waters.
So we started building our own. Our first handmade frogs were shaped, painted and finished by hand at our workshop in Vilavancode, Kanniyakumari, and fished on local water until they walked, popped and skipped the way they should. Frogs are still a big part of who we are — but anglers kept asking us for more.
Today Chief Angler is a complete fishing store. We sell every type of lure — hard lures, frogs, poppers, minnows and jerkbaits, shrimp lures and soft lures — along with braided (X4, X8, X9) and monofilament fishing lines, lip grippers, pliers with line cutters and other essential tools. Whether you target snakehead in the weeds, barramundi and trevally in the backwaters or anything in between, we pick and test gear that we’d fish ourselves.
We’re still small, still hands-on, and still answer our own WhatsApp — because the best feedback comes straight from the people on the water.
